Arnhem Land Camp Dog

image

Sorry about the extended absence people! I god whisked away to Arnhem Land in Australia’s Northern Territory to do a quick tour with Circus Oz. It’s hot, dry and beautiful. No swimming in the ocean due to the crocs and jellies, mosquitoes are large and hungry, and the dogs are “cheeky” (a local term meaning they bite). The kids are amazing, and the show is fun. I’ll try to keep updating, but no laptop means that it’s all mobile phone and memory card. I’m getting some wonderful pictures.

I call this one “Storytime With Jez, or It Puts The Lotion On It’s Skin”.

A Little Bit Of Circus Oz.

IMG_4118

This is Mason, one of the performers in the current cast of Circus Oz. I had the pleasure of performing with him last week, as a last minute fill-in for an injured acrobat.

This is Kai, another acrobat. A relatively new member of Circus Oz, he is an acrobatic base and teeterboard specialist.

I have been through an extended and lagging convalescence in the past few months, having injured my thumb quite badly. This was an energising way to get back onstage and feel useful again. I’ll post more photos as I get to them.

Dry Cleaning In Dubai, Travel Photo #82.

I’ve been absent for a few days, even a week or so! Apologies. I’ve got a few photos from this last week, where I was standing in for an injured performer in a company called Circus Oz for the final week of their season in Melbourne. Last minute call, very fun. It was a nice way to come back from injury too. I’ll try to make a post of these little snippets of life inside the Big Top tomorrow.

The picture above was taken on an extended stopover in Dubai on the way to Brazil last year. I had time to see the sights, albeit briefly.

Walking The Donkeys, Berlin. Travel Photo #81.

These girls were jogging by with their donkeys in a park in central Berlin. Highschool German lessons jumped into action! “Ein Foto, bitte?” popped out of my mouth. I don’t know if they knew what a sight they were, but I thought they were glorious. I snapped a few shots before they went on their way.

German Beer And German Bikes. Travel Photo #80.

This alehouse is in Gorlitzer Park, Berlin. The park where I saw two young girls walking their donkeys, and the park in which I got offered many varieties of illicit substances by many different people. Berlin is wild. Here they are, these everyday young Germans and internationals, living an almost idealised life in a beautifully fertile city full of of-the-grid and green living. But contrast that with the aforementioned donkeys and drugs, and you start to get an idea of the state of change that this place is in. We forget the history of this city is so recent. But one thing, however, is a certainty: in summer, people will sit in the sunshine and drink beer. Doesn’t matter where you’re from or where you’re at.

Berlin Wall, East Side Gallery. Travel Photo #79.

The Berlin Wall, at a section known as the East Side Gallery. Well this is the west side of the wall, where they’ve made a park next to the river . Hate to sound like the white twentysomething I am, but Berlin is probably my favourite city in the world.
