Coffs Harbour Jetty, Travel Photo #84.

I flew back from Coffs Harbour today, after doing a week of the International Busking Festival there. It’s a beautiful seaside town on the mid coast of New South Wales, Australia. Springtime brings whales and their young into the area, among other sea life. About 2 minutes after this photo, was taken a dolphin came to within a few feet of me and said hello before chasing a school of fish off into deeper water.  Earlier in the day, I jumped off the jetty and climbed out to see a large school of manta rays gracefully flapping through the water I had just plunged into.

This was a 30 second exposure with my Samyang 8mm fisheye. It was quite dark, and a few photos didn’t work at all before this one came out exposed perfectly. It’s strange because the scene didn’t look quite this vibrant to the naked eye, but this is quite close to how it came out of the camera (except for some noise reduction and a few little tweaks).

I’ll be posting a few more photos, as well as links to some pics from the festival itself with some pics of my performances.
If you like what you see, like it, share it, subsribe! have a great week people.

Travel Photo #83

I remember thinking as I walked around Prague last year that it was the most beautiful city I had ever seen. As a quick backstory, Tom Gorham (another acrobat in the show I was in) and I were charged with driving a van from Lithuania to Barcelona. We drove through Poland to Berlin, had a day there, and continued down to Prague for an afternoon before heading on through Switzerland and Italy to Spain.

Prague is really quite amazing. I could fill this page up with travel clichés but I won’t, just suffice to say that Prague’s history and architectural opulence caught me off guard. I was walking around all afternoon with a dumb grin on my face like every other tourist, taking photos and staring at what locals would view as mundane. I must say though, I have no problem with being a tourist when all I have is an afternoon in one of the historically celebrated European cities, the city where Mozart was born. I have much more of a tolerance for tourists after experiencing cities in this manner.

In this photo, I was standing on the Charles Bridge looking back at the Old Town. The band was a nice mix of old polka music with a jazz swing influence. The sun had just come out, I had an ice cream in my hand and I was in my little travel bubble where all is right in the world and nothing could dampen my mood.

Up And Down At The Gangster’s Ball, Metro Theatre Sydney.

Doing some gigs around the place for The Gangster’s Ball, this was the only good shot I got on saturday night at Sydney’s Metro Theatre. Didn’t have too much time for photos, and I forgot my f1.4 lens too, so things were a little challenging in a dark club. Anyway, have a good week people and I’ll update soon with some more travel photos!

Arnhem Land Swimming Hole – Reflections

This was a swimming hole we visited on a day off near Gapuwiyak, Arnhem Land. I went with some of the guys to fish at the river, and left the rest of the party to enjoy the cool water. We came back here later in the day and had a splash about too, after catching some fish. This was a nice time in the afternoon, the heat of the day had passed and the light was softer. There was no wind about, and the water was calm and clear. The crocodiles, we were told, were further up the creek. We didn’t see any in this area so I guess the advice was right.

Thanks for visiting. Feel free to like or follow if you feel inclined.

Inside His Majesty’s Theatre, Perth Australia.

The interior of His Majesty’s Theatre in Perth, Australia. I was there for a week until today, for the Circus Oz regional tour. The advantages of a fisheye lens are many, but interior shots are one obvious example.
